Abby (pet) and Niblet (bunny) are well-behaved, extremely social and have a lot of character. Abby is incredibly popular in the area and the other pet dogs consider her a celebrity. Lots of pet moms and dads (or any parent) dislike leaving their children when it is time to go to work and I was among them. Many early mornings I would think, I just desire to be a stay at house pet moms and dad.
I've been fortunate to deal with a lot of terrific people, but cubicle life didn't appear to fit me anymore. I felt the work I was doing could be done from a house. I would take a getaway and feel revitalized for a few days and then burnout would return. In the back of my mind I always thought how great it would be to be my own boss. Being able to periodically come home for lunch and walk my pet kept me going on bad days.
It ended up being harder and harder to return to the office.
Abby did a fantastic job of making me feel guilty whenever I would leave, whether it was in the morning or during a lunch see. I understood one day I would discover the ideal scenario to make a change, I simply didn't recognize how quickly. The business mentality of being a number on a spreadsheet and a body to fill a job was getting old. Doing the work of 3 individuals sufficed to make me turn in my resignation.
As soon as that letter was sent out, I felt totally elated. I began counting down the days up until I was free. Every early morning I healthy living believed, I will not have to leave home to go to work every morning extremely soon. Just 5 more days, 4 more days, 3 more days, and so on
. Throughout my recently, I began to put my workplace together. One of the most important pieces was a pet bed. The only difficulty I'm finding right now is that Abby wishes to sit on my lap as I'm working. I allow it in some cases, how could I not.
It was a difficult transition to make, but I have absolutely no regrets. The happiness and freedom I feel outweighs any fear and working in my office where my furry kids run around is my sort of task!
